Vaclovas Straukas became active in the world of Lithuanian photography in the early 1970s. His photographs reflect subjects that were topical at the time: panoramic images of nature, rural pastime and urban youth on holiday. Much like Rakauskas’ series Blooming, Straukas’ photographs reveal a lyrical worldview and a bright outlook on life.
The coastal region in which Straukas spent most of his life was a central theme in his work. In the photographs Summer Morning and Holidays, people and animals are integral parts of his work. Straukas was known for his ability to socialize, easily earning the trust of his future photographs, which in turn helped him to capture the “decisive moments” of daily life to reveal the unique harmony between man and nature.
